Our History
Peninsula Vet Care was started over 40 years ago when our very first hospitals opened in Mt Eliza and Dromana in the 1970s. Dr. Andrew Tresize was one of the original vets who started Peninsula Vet Care when he saw an opportunity to offer first class healthcare to animals on the Mornington Peninsula. Andrew has since retired from his original role, but still maintains a presence by helping out at the clinics whenever possible. Now, each clinic has a partner involved to ensure the highest standards of pet healthcare are met and in addition, work together to improve the range and accessibility of Peninsula Vet Care’s services.
In the 1980s, we converted our Dromana facility into a state-of-the-art clinic and in the 1990s we opened the doors to our East Mornington Hospital. In 2000, we moved into Rosebud and in 2007 we headed further down the Peninsula and opened our purpose-built facility at Rye Beach. In 2014, we merged with Peninsula Animal Hospital, expanding our resources and services in our Mt Eliza clinic.
Most recently, in 2019, our East Mornington site became the first 24/7 Emergency and Referral Hospital, offering around the clock care on the Mornington Peninsula. Our Emergency and Referral Hospital provides the utmost quality care through our specialist surgical and medical services. When it comes to consistency, we value our process of linking patient histories, meaning we’ll have all your pet’s important information instantly on hand to provide the most urgent care for your pet when they need it most.
Through renovations, investment in new technologies and highly skilled staff, we are delighted to be able to offer the highest levels of healthcare to the animals we see. We’re proud to still be locally owned and operated today, and the rest as they say, is history.
