About the role

We have a full-time position (approximately 37.5 hours) for an experienced veterinary nurse to work at our Dromana clinic.

We pay a generous hourly rate above the award, plus other remuneration benefits are available based on your qualifications. Our roster consists of four weekday shifts and a one in four weekend rotation.

The position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Assisting team with animals during examination and surgery
  • Preparing and administrating medications
  • Preparing animals for surgery, including placing i/v catheters, intubation and blood collection
  • Running in house pathology
  • Assisting in ultrasound and radiography
  • Maintaining hospital hygiene and cleanliness
  • Monitoring patients during anaesthesia and providing post-operative care
  • Identify operational issues and make recommendations to resolve
  • Reception shifts which include providing client education and advice.

About you

We are passionate about getting the right people in the right roles. We are looking for someone with the following characteristics:

  • Minimum two years’ experience as a veterinary nurse
  • A certificate IV in veterinary nursing (non-qualified applications will be considered depending on experience)
  • Broad skills in surgical assistance and general nursing duties, and front of house client services
  • The ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a large team
  • The desire to provide a high standard of patient and client care
  • The ability to work efficiently and with initiative in a fast-paced environment
